Evil Twin

How would you describe Evil Twin? Evil Twin started as a side project for both Chris and I. Essentially it was and still is a jam band. We figured as it was just drums and guitar we would follow the trend and give blues a try, we’ve evolved a few other styles in there over the years.

How was the experience of recording your album Broken Blues?  Broken Blues was recorded very similarly to our first album where we started with an EP and the project grew from there. Recording a two-piece is pretty straightforward and we’ve always had extra songs in the bank, for some reason we’ve always ended up with extra time in the studio.

How have you noticed Evil Twin evolving over the years? We’ve evolved through being more confident in writing and playing as a two-piece, which can be a little unforgiving and nerve racking at times. Some people think it’s a gimmick but we’ve noticed along the way that there are more and more bands doing it now.

How does creating an album differ from the release of a single or an EP? An album represents a period of time and you are simply documenting it to a format you can revisit. For everyone else it’s a chance to try and get to know the music and decide if they like it. I find the process of recording cathartic. I normally find straight afterwards an influx of new ideas to move onto and almost forget about the album at hand.
