So maybe Joaquim Phoenix isn’t quite as messed up as we all thought.

After receiving scathing reviews follow its release by Magnolia Pictures last week, Casey Affleck has revealed the true nature of his latest picture ‘I’m Still Here’.

The perceived documentary film of the portrayal of the drug-riddled and aspiring rap star Joaquin Phoenix has been ridiculed as “a sad and painful documentary that serves little useful purpose other than to pound another nail into the coffin.”

Affleck has divulged the entire film, including Phoenix’s bizarre appearance of David Letterman’s late night show was a performance, saying that “it’s a terrific performance, it’s the performance of his career”.

Following the scornful attacks on the film, Affleck has shared that virtually none of the film is a true depiction; the drugs, the hookers and the childhood home movies were not real. Completely fictional.

Whether or not critics will believe this confession of the film is debatable, but for now let’s leave it with Affleck’s own commentary on the film, stating that “it is a hard movie to watch”.
