Held for the fourth time, the awards look at the best releases from independent European labels. The Bad Seeds album was released through their own Bad Seed Ltd while Harvey’s was out on Mute.

They’re up against releases by Armin van Buuren, John Grant, Sigur Rós, Boards of Canada, Iceage, Junip, Agnes Obel, Alborosie, Aino Venna, Birdpen, Bye Alex, Caro Emerald, King Midas, Milky Chance, Dubioza Kolektiv, Obliteration, Elisa, MF/MB, Guadalupe Plata, Jelena Radan, Peixe:Avião and Woodkid.

Helen Smith, Executive Chair, IMPALA commented: “We expect this shortlist to attract a lot of interest as it is a very strong set of nominees. Just like the Mercury Music Prize, the winning album will be simply what the jury believes is the most exceptional album of the year.”

Last year’s winner was Coexist by The xx.
