Melbourne laneways to be transformed into summer gardens

Part of the $1.3 million Green Your Laneway project implemented by City of Melbourne, the transformation will see growing vertical gardens, trees and pocket parks add a touch of life to the inner city.

The project will also release a world-first interactive map that will show laneways that could go green, based on the amount of sunlight they receive, exposure to wind and their physical characteristics.

From over 800 laneways nominated for the project, the four selected to receive a green-thumbed makeover will be Katherine Place, Meyers Place, Guildford Lane and Coromandel Place.
