Ed Kuepper

Ed Kuepper isn’t particularly disposed to analysing his legacy. But maybe he doesn’t need to be. After all, there are people out there willing to do that for him: the discography of the celebrated musician, a player who has contributed to bands as diverse as The Saints and Laughing Clowns, has been lauded as one of the most celebrated in contemporary Australian music history, and he is an...

Australian guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter Ed Kuepper has announced that in addition to playing at Hobart’s Mona Foma festival, he’s also hitting the road on a national tour.

Ed Kuepper is nothing if not prolific. With age, he is now becoming more reflective and considered, sort of like Marc Ribot, Daniel Lanois or Vini Reilly. Referring to this recording as "solo orchestral" is quite inspired, and he certainly does justice to a seemingly convoluted and deceptive term.

Friends With The Leader evokes images of Stalinist Russia, and...

Seeing Ed Kuepper play is a rare treat at the best of times, so tonight, a two-hour request set, was like getting a goddamn present. “You thought you were coming to a cultural event, but you’ve ended up at an RSL,” he chortles. Dude, if that’s the case, the RSL beats the shit out of any cultural event.

The wry bugger actually played on demand – which meant we got to hear...

After completing his tour of duty with The Bad Seeds, Ed Kuepper re-emerges with, for a lesser artist, what would be akin to robbing his own room. But this is Ol' Golden Eye after all and he more or less unlocks his sizable war chest. The eleven songs do not throw up unexpected surprises. Snapshots of The Saints, Laughing Clowns and Kuepper in various other guises and complemented by some...

The all-singing al-dancing Ed Kuepper returns to the live arena this May for a series of acoustic solo and by-request shows in support of a brand new release Return Of The Mail-Order Bridegroom.

The new CD features acoustic rewordings of earlier Kuepper classics spanning material by The Saints, Laughing Clowns and of course Ed's lengthy solo career. The CD was inspired in part...

Ed Kuepper slips from international stages as Nick Cave's hired gun into the more serene (machine?!) confines of a seated Thursday solo show. The Flying Saucer Club conjures images of Sixties dives filled with smoke, noise and more multi-coloured tablets than a pharmacy. Beam me up Scotty. In actual fact nothing could be further from the truth. This is the Caufield RSL, a regal Tudor style...
