The John Curtin Hotel will be hosting some great Aussie bands this weekend for A Day on the Grid. Interstate acts Horror My Friend and Super Best Friends will join local favourites The Sinking Teeth, From Oslo and heaps more. It kicks off this Saturday September 17 at 5pm for only 15 clams.

Brisbane punk pioneers The Saints have announced a run of pub shows this October. Fronted by original members Chris Bailey and Iain Shedden and backed up by Pat Bourke and Davey Lane, the band will play at The Gasometer Hotel on Wednesday October 5, Thursday October 6 and Friday October 7. Former Weakerthans vocalist and Propagandhi bassist John K Samson has announced the release of a new solo album. Entitled Winter Threat, the record was recorded over the past winter in various garages and houses in Samson’s native Winnipeg. Long-running Melbourne post punk/noise rock band The Nation Blue have announced the upcoming release of not one, but two full length albums. Entitled Black and Blue, the two albums were recorded live in a hall in rural Victoria over the past two years. In massive tour news, Swedish hardcore titans Refused have announced a national tour with NYHC staples Sick of it All and Melbourne punk rockers High Tension.
