Nude

I had little idea what to expect of Nude.  I knew what the creators were trying to do – create some discussion around nudity and the often contrary views and norms of our society – but how would this translate to an entertaining show?  With mixed results as it turns out.

There are some really enjoyable and well put together pieces in the tapestry of works which make up Nude, including snappy, funny, well-executed burlesque numbers and circus piecesThere are also some that don’t really work, including two short and mostly ignored rants from the ‘guest speaker’ of the night, Hellfire club founder Richard Wolstencroft, and a sense that if it sticks to its current format then it needs to pick up the pace.

Nude creates the kind of night where you round up your friends and head to the venue primarily for drinks, enjoying the added bonus of taking in some great cabaret, as opposed to heading out to sit and watch some art unfold.  If you go with this in mind you will have an excellent night which may also see you question why you feel how you do about nudity, modesty, and the human form.
