Melbourne International Comedy Festival opens 2017 Funny Tonne applications
Are you ready to enter an endless whirlpool of laughter, where sleep is expendable and your mind becomes an eternal encyclopaedia of humour, wit and droll?
If your schedule for April and March looks decidedly empty, your determination is ripe and your conceptual insight is primed, then this is the competition for you.
Since 2005, the Funny Tonne has dared three die-hard fanatics of funny to go head-to-head-to-head in a race to see the most MICF shows and take out the Funny Tonne title.
Sarah Trevarthen smashed the Funny Tonne record by watching 178 shows in 2015 while Jeremy MacPherson witnessed 158 shows last year to win the Funny Tonne.
You need fire and commitment – something the Comedy Passport will supplement you but not donate you. Along the way, you’ll need to kick the lyrical wand into gear posting reviews along the way – to be posted on the Festival website once daily.
If Arj Barker has the sarcastic edge you need six doses of or Eddie Ifft's got the borrowed Australian patriotism you need to catch thrice, apply to be a part of the 2017 Funny Tonne via the MICF website. Applications close Wednesday March 15.
